Have you adopted a child from the foster care system and are feeling frustrated?
- No matter what you do,, it seems like your child does not appreciate you
- You are overwhelmed by the temper tantrums that seem to come out of nowhere
- No matter what you do, it seems like your relationship is not working
- You secretly feel regret at your decision to adopt
- You feel alone because no one seems to understand your struggle.
As an adoptive parent myself, I understand your struggle. I provide a safe and trusting place where I can listen to your struggles, hear your disappointments and understand your pain. I can help you process your grief and reframe your expectations of your child in order to build a better relationship. This is also a place where you can learn how to navigate a healthy relationship with the birth family, including understanding and setting boundaries. Understanding your child and how their experiences affect them is an important key in building a safe environment and a forever family. I can help you understand their grief and loss, need for a sense of identity and connection, and how the stages of development can be affected by their trauma. Once we understand our children, we can readjust our expectations and be equipped to be better parents.
